The exam can be a useful technique for students’ employment later on.

The exam can be a useful technique for students’ employment later on.

It’s the students’ responsibility first to study deeply all the materials on the syllabus, do all the homework, attend all the classes, look all past papers, know the day, time and place for the exam. The students tend to cover all these things as basic before the exam. Some of them who work hard, they probably excel in the examination. It means that it’s quite fair for evaluating their levels of competences.

The exam can judge the students’ competences in case of their scholarships’ determination and employment. It’s possible that the exam - a representation of real life experience, starting from working hard in school and begin seeking for employment. The students who are good at oral examination, may convince that they are able to work in good organization. The ability to gain employment will depend on how well they performed.

Students who were successful in their exams, they may have high levels of confidence in their ability and this possibly reflects in their performance as well.

I experience once how to gain my confidences when I have to present something toward any other colleagues in my work place. The participation or the oral exam in classroom is an obvious practical technique, helping me how to express my own idea out of the public. It can help us how to face a problem in real life in somehow.

Song Kran

Here comes the hottest month in Thailand. Even April is the hottest, but it is also the most popular time for everyone to join this festival…”Song Kran”

People know that Song Kran is a big day for water fight. Especially in Chiang Mai where it has the moat around the city. But it is actually a break time for people to go back home and spend time with their family after working all year long.

The most fun part would be the water fight. In the past, the way people played was humble and gentle. They pour a only small amount of water on the shoulder or hands. But now, they play rough and hard by using a big water gun or bucket to splash water. The teenagers take advantages of the chaos to drink alcohol and do inappropriate things which they cannot do in normal. According to Chiang Mai newspaper, the statistic from 2010 shows that most of the people who died in Chiang Mai during Song kran festival are male teenagers age between 15-25 who are drunk and perfectly killed themselves by drowning or motorbike crashing.

Isn’t it time to go home and see your beloved ones alive? The main point of this festival is “Family”, the most precious time of the year when you have the ones who truly love you all around. I cannot tell everyone how to play and have fun during this festival properly. I just want to remind you what is more important to your life. Too many people died during this time because they did things careless. I am sure that it is not worth your parents crying for you to become alive again.

Have a happy holiday!!!!

Frozen Food: Alternative Food for Modern Lifestyle

By Kanokwan (530132001)

Nowadays people live their lives in a hurry. People require convenience, rapid management for everything in their daily lives including food matter. Thus, the way people consume food has changed. Consequently, people tend to consume more frozen food which requires less time in preparing.

Freezing is one of the food preservation methods which has been practiced for generations. The food is stored under very low temperature to prevent the growth of bacteria to provide longer food shelf life while maintaining its taste, freshness, and nutrition. The frozen products are popular in various parts of the world for instance, America, Europe, and Japan. For Thailand, this category of food becomes more popular consumers few years ago.

I and my friend often bring frozen food for our lunch at the office but some people say it is not good for our health. Many people are reluctant to consume frozen food because of additives and food packages may cause the environmental problem. However, I think that frozen food is an attractive choice for the modern lifestyle since it offers time and money saving, convenience, a perfect calorie control, and dependable production control system. Sometimes, food at restaurants or markets may not as clean as we expect.

To avoid unhealthy menus, we can study ingredients on the label. However, I think the law passed to regulate the information on labels must be enforced by the government. Manufacturers should not show merely general information but also the nutrition facts on labels. Thus, people can choose the most appropriate diets to meet their requirements and lifestyle.

Save the World

I'm wondering about our world's conditon today. Last year, at this time, it was so hot in summer and we were ready for Songkran festival--the festival of splashing water in the coming of Thai new year. However, this year, it is still cool and even cold for the tropical people like us. It's the end of March and it's supposed to be hot now. Some people died because they cannot adjust to the quick change of the weather. While people in the north, the center, and the northeastern of Thailand are suffering from the cold weather, people in the south are suffering from flood. Yes, flood in summer! Last two weeks, there was a big earthquake and tsunami in Japan. a week later, there was an earthquake in Burma which could be sensed by many of us, especially in the north of Thailand and in the tall buildings as well.

What happened to Thailand? What happened to our world? Many scientists suggested that those uncommon natural disasters were caused by global warming which was resulted from human actions. Many campaigns on stopping global warming have been launched; we are now alert and trying to help the world by reduce, reuse, recycle, etc.... but is it too late? It is too late to stop the disasters from occurring, Though what we are trying to do to save the world today may be able to lengthen the world's life for a few years, better late than never since if we don't do anything, soon, there won't be the place left for us and our new generations to live.

Have you ever heard a word “Self-Esteem”? This kind of idea is now likely to be promoted widely around Thailand. Self-esteem is a term used in psychology to reflect a person's overall evaluation or appraisal of his or her own worth. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-esteem) Person needs to know who he/she is, realizes what he/she is doing for. He/She is likely to be responsible for his/her reaction, being proud of what he/she has done. The awareness tends to be taught by the first environment so, the family possibly becomes a big influence, stimulates this kind of self-actualized towards their children. It may depend on how the family encourages their children’s confidences, let them learn how to improve the problem by themselves. Then, their self-image is gradually going to be created. In contrast, a low self-esteem people may use a self-defense, protecting them from getting a tension. It may release them being far away from the truth. That’s not a good idea for nurturing our Thai children.

I don’t think if we are going to block our generation’s ideas. The creativeness won’t be widely spreading.

Angry me with Angry birds

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bNNzRyd1xz0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Playing games is one of my favorite hobbies. The latest game that I like the most is “Angry birds”.  In the game, a player  has to use a slingshot to launch birds at pigs stationed on or within various structures, with the intent of destroying all the pigs on the playfield. It is quite interesting at the beginning, because the player has to take control of a flock of birds that are attempting to retrieve eggs that have been stolen by a group of evil green pigs. On each level, the pigs are sheltered by structures made of various materials such as wood, icestone and the object of the game is to eliminate all the pigs in the level. Using a slingshot, players launch the birds with the intent of either hitting the pigs directly or damaging the structures, which would cause them to collapse and kill the pigs.

After I play it for a while, I cannot achieve the higher stage. I launch the birds over and over to hit pigs. Some birds hit the wall, some fell hard on ground. There is awkward sounds when the birds hit something. I notice the voice many times and realize that the birds have funny face and the feather fall over when they fall hard. I stop playing and think about what I am doing to the birds (even they are not real.) I feel bad that hurt those birds. The game was made for fun but I don’t feel good to play it at all. It suppose to be like the other puzzle games that I have played. I feel like I am a cruel person who is fine to see animals get abused.

So, I quit this game. I admit that this game is very creative and good for your brain. But I hate to see the birds hurt when I play. I see myself as Cruella from 101 Dalmatians. I prefer to be the one who would help animal from any cruelty.

Beauty of South Korea

Years ago, my life was a crap. Many things went wrong in my life. My parents hurt from what I had done and so do I. Although the bad things have passed, I still regret whenever I think of. The pain of guilty was still with me tough. I spent my desperate life from days to months. I had lost my self-pride, motivation and dream. I then decided to further my education with hope to regain my self- pride. The education did help me but my heart still empty.

Last year I accidentally had a chance to visit South Korea in order to accompany my aunt. Travelling in South Korea reminded me of the dream that I once dreamt off to visit the country but I had forgotten all about them. I went to many interesting and beautiful places around South Korea. On the last day in South Korea, the tour guide took me to the place in front of the blue house (the South Korea President’s House). I could not remember the name of the place. There was the sculptor of Phoenix which standing on the earth in the center and the sculptors of family which consist of father, mother and children. The tour guide explained the meaning of each sculptor. The Phoenix represents the South Korea that the country was almost destroyed but it could regain its glory later on. The country had been separated into the North Korea and the South Korea because of the political disagreement. During that time the South Korea was very weak. With the cooperation of the whole nation, South Korea has developed their country into one of the powerful country in this century. South Korea is like a phoenix which was believed that it never dies. The phoenix can reborn from its own ashes. That I heard the explanation was fulfill me. I regain my self-pride, my dream and my motivation back because I realized that I could build it up again. Although the mistakes that I had done destroyed my pride, I did not lose myself and I still alive no matter who judge me. I can build myself up again just like what South Korea has done.

beauty of nature

Christian Dior, Elizabeth Arden, Mercedes, Beetles; these names are not only well known to us today as brands of consumer products. Who could imagine that there are roses with these names. Roses also have names for almost every occasion. You can use a rose to say ‘congratulations’ ,to express your ‘sympathie (s)’ , to show your ‘true love’ or even say I’m ‘impatient’ to ‘love’ you.

These flowers alone without the names are adorable the minute you see one. I also have roses top listed of all my favorite flowers. One reason I like roses is that there are so many varieties that you can almost say there is a rose for everyone. Some types are simple. Some grow into tress. Some varieties are best to let them grow and crawl and form fences or archways. My favorites are usually rose vines and tree-roses because they usually bloom in clusters like sprays of paint on deep green canvas of its foliage.

One variety I like most and had actually seen the real one in the royal garden of Bhubing Palace in Chiang Mai is the variety called ‘Pierre de Ronsard’, a pale pink colored rose that its shades darkens and petals tightens in the center named after France’s ‘prince of poets’.

Meditation and Beauty

Meditation and Beauty

Meditation releases the unlimited power of the subconscious. It enhances inner as well as outer beauty. Ageless body and timeless mind can be achieved by daily practice of meditation, listed below are practical tips for effective result-oriented meditation.

Beauty is more than skin deep. It is feeling and being beautiful inside out. This is very important, irrespective of the number of cosmetics a woman applies, if she is not mentally and physically healthy, she will not be truly beautiful. Our face is like a mirror, it reflects our innermost thoughts, expressions and feelings almost involuntarily and so does it show the quality of mental and physical balance that a person has maintained. And this balance is the cue to a truly beautiful and charming personal. Beauty therapies if supplemented with regular practice of correct meditation a woman's face will bring forth her inner balance and tranquility.

What does meditation do?

1) Builds concentration

Effective meditation helps develop concentration. The power of the mind is enhanced and thereby stress levels are cut down drastically. Lower stress, automatically means better control over situation and a relaxed frame of mind even in difficult times, which invariably means a happy and radiating face and an active body to match.

2) Matured and thoughtful attitude

The meditation leads to a thoughtful attitude towards every task in life. Such an attitude reduces stress levels and enables an individual to see the best in every situation. This optimism reduces the ageing process and enables a woman to be in best shape in body and mind.

3) Enhancement in positive emotions

Meditation enhances positive emotions like love, respect, happiness etc. Positive emotions are very useful for balanced secretion of vital hormones within the body. Negative emotions like anger, hatred, jealously etc. are harmful to the body. Positive emotions make us young and energetic, happy and joyful.

4) Unleashing the power of the subconscious mind

During meditation we pacify our conscious mind and activate the subconscious mind. We can use the unlimited power of our subconscious mind through meditation. We can achieve beauty, health, vigor, vitality, happiness etc. by taking the help of the divine mind within us.

Form this article, I think if we do the meditation regularly, we can make ourselves happy and beautiful. I also think that being beautiful inside is more important than outside. But I cannot do the medition more than 10 minutes because I cannot concentrate for a long time. Meditation is quite difficult for me. But thinking positive is a good way for me to reduce the stress when I get angry in my daily life. Moreover, it is true that when I happy from inside, my face is getting bright. But when I am in the bad mood, there is a spot on my face and my face is getting dark.

The beauty is in the eye of beholder

Have you ever heard of “The beauty is in the eye of beholder”? What if the beholder changes his/her mind a lot? Where is a destination of beauty? If we still not satisfy by the beauty that we have.

This is the era that plastic surgery has become very popular all over the world. People can change any parts of their body that they don’t like, the doctors can do it very well now just like they mold a piece of clay and put it back on the body. After a painful night, the patient will wake up with their new part of body which make them full of self-confidence.

There are many TV programs about making over to a new look which revive your life to be more beautiful by cosmetic surgery. It shows that being beautiful is just another product that you can buy from a surgeon as many times as you want (if you have money).

In 2004, there was a news about a Korean singer who suffer from cosmetic surgery which turned her into a monster. She was very popular in Korea and moved to Japan where She started her first surgery with the unqualified doctor. She had many surgeries in Japan. One day, she came back to her family. Nobody could remember her. They realized her problem and sent her to get fixed both psychically and mentally, but she resisted. Anyway, She asked many surgeons in Korea for more operations. The only answer she got was “No”, so she injected paraffin oil into her face by herself and finally ended up being a monster. With help from people, she got another 15 operation and became normal again.

So, what is the meaning of being beautiful for these people? if they cannot stop getting cosmetic surgery. Will there be many of real Barbie dolls walking on the same street with us in the near future? And They might finally end up with the psychologist not the surgeon as usual.

I think, plastic surgery is good if that can heal the health’s problem or fulfill your satisfaction for a few parts of your body. But if you really change to be a new you and leave all your background behind. I really think that you should think about beauty from “inner” before you realize that you are one of the fashion victim by cosmetic surgery.
